The UK’s energy system is undergoing dramatic changes at an unprecedented rate, aiming to transition to clean, secure, and affordable energy sources and smart local energy systems (SLE). To support this transition, the UK must also train the workforce that would be delivering and operating the new SLE system. So the question on What skills and training provisions are needed for the successful transition to smart local energy systems? must be addressed.
To answer this question, the Skills research team at the EnergyREV project has set out to undertake several case studies at the localities where this transition is underway. Two of these are summarised below, along with the causal loop diagram models demonstrating dependencies between various factors both for each sector, as for the integrated set of case studies)
